Ours is an old village house that's been lovingly modernised, so you get the character of the original building with the comforts you'd expect. It's simple, comfortable and made for relaxing. Expect long lunches outside, lazy afternoons, and the odd competitive game of pool.
📍 Right in the village
The house is in the heart of Jayena, so everything is on the doorstep. There are a few shops for the basics, and a handful of bars and cafés for a morning coffee, a cold beer or some tapas. You can leave the car where it is and wander. There are lovely walks starting from the village and great runs or bike rides in the local hills.
🛏️ Sleeping
There are three double bedrooms. Two are in the main house, and the third sits just across the courtyard, which gives it a bit of privacy.
That means six people sleep comfortably. If there are a few more of you, we also have a sofa and two single mattresses, so we can squeeze in extra friends at a pinch.
Bedding is provided, so there's no need to pack sheets.
🚿 Bathrooms
There are two bathrooms, so there's no morning queue.
🍳 The kitchen
The kitchen is well equipped so you'll have everything you need for a proper feast or a simple breakfast. We have lots of equipment and Pots and pans. There's also a washing machine, which is handy if you're travelling light or staying a while. We also have a large Fridge freezer in the outside store for kitchen overflow
🔥 Cosy in winter, cool in summer
The living room has a wood burner, and nothing beats it on a crisp winter evening. We're at 1,000 metres, so nights can be chilly. There are also plug-in heaters for the bedrooms, and fans for the hot summer days.
☀️ Outside
Outdoor space is the real joy of the house.
The courtyard is small and sheltered, a lovely spot for a morning coffee.
The terrace gets the sun all day and has nice views out over the village. Bring a book and your sun cream.
The garden is large, with a big table that's shaded for most of the day. That's where you'll want to be when it's hot, and it's where most lunches and long dinners end up happening. The garden is broken into 3 zones, a hard surfaced area ideal with for Lunch with a BBQ as well. Thers also a shrub and tree filled area and the back has a hard surfaced area
🎱 The games room
When it's too hot, too late or just time for some friendly rivalry, head to the games room. It has a pool table, a table tennis table and a TV. Tournaments are strongly encouraged.
📶 Wi-Fi & Tech
Yes, we have Wi-Fi!, USB charging plugs and a wide range of cables etc
⚠️ Good to know
Like many old village houses, ours has lots of steps. They're part of its charm, but please bear them in mind if you're bringing small children or for anyone who isn't steady on their feet.
