Jayena is a small white village in the hills of Granada province, about 1,000 metres up. It's easy to reach, and the last part of the drive is very pretty, so take it slowly and enjoy it
Málaga is usually the best choice from the UK and Ireland. It has lots of flights from most airports. From there it's about 2 hours' drive to us. (We often get a late flight to Malaga and stay at an airport hotel)
Granada is much closer, roughly 40 minutes away, but it mostly has flights within Spain, plus the occasional London route. It's worth checking as sometimes it has cheap one stop flights via Barcelona, Madrid or Palma if you fancy an extra city
Seville is approx 3 Hrs away and also has good UK & Ireland flights and is a very nice stop over
Almeria Is about 2hrs 30 mins from us and also has lots of UK & Ireland flights
🚗 Driving
We'd recommend hiring a car. The village is lovely, but buses are few, and a car lets you explore the coast, Granada and the mountains.
From Málaga: Your sat-nav will offer a couple of routes
Inland Take the motorway inland towards Granada (follow Granada signs). Fst
Coast Take the motorway east along the coast, then head inland up into the hills., and both are fine. The mountain road from the coast via Otívar is spectacular but twisty. Leave it for daylight if you're not keen on hairpin bends.
From Granada: It's an easy drive south-west through farmland and olive groves.
Parking: You can park directly oustde the house
Finding us: We are on Calle Sol Jayena, 18127
🚌 Without a car
It's possible, but it takes time. ALSA buses run from Málaga to Granada, and from Granada out to Jayena but are only one in the morning and a return in the afternoon.
